Dirk van Roest

Although I used to enjoy drawing and took creative subjects up to and including high school, an art education was not a logical choice for me. I started painting in 2002. I am self-taught, my background is in the graphic arts field.

My work is mainly abstract / expressionistic. In addition, every now and then I step to figurative and even 3D.

My recent work is characterized by the use of an old technique, encaustic. I paint with warm beeswax and damar resin, supplemented with colour pigments.
